Tiesto Review, Pacha NYC. 11-30-11

Tiesto Clvb Life @ Pacha NYC’s 6th Anniversary Kickoff Party 11.30.11

To celebrate the 6th Anniversary of Pacha NYC, one of Manhattan’s most aggressively wild & trancetastic clubs, DJ Tiesto kick started the week long party series with his premiere performance at the NYC location.  The Ibiza Clvb King sold out the venue on a Wednesday night, proving that his fans definitely have a “Work Hard, Play Hard” attitude and are down to get MAXIMAL CRAZY any night of the week.  Thanks to our good friends at Atrium Fashion NYC, who are exclusively launching Tiesto’s new clothing line CLVB LIFE tomorrow (Thursday 12/8/11), I had the great privilege of sharing a VIP table with Tiesto’s management team and business partners, getting to chat with the impressive global group and enjoying one of the best views in the Shower Lounge. Felix Cartal opened the night with some serious love, busting out his beauteous track “L’Amour” and cruised right into his popular chune “Montreal Dreams”.  Cartal sparked some shivers when he dropped “The Joker”, showcasing his old-school NY techno sound reminiscent of early Frankie Bones beats.
In typical Tijs fashion, Tiesto dove right into his performance, smoothly transitioning from Cartal’s set immediately into his own, sparing the packed club of tranceholics a tease from their main event as so many other DJs on the scene like to.  The rowdy crowd began chanting Tiesto’s name right at Cartal’s closure and didn’t stop through the first minute of Tijs’ unidentifiable intro of drops until he slid into his remix of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ beloved song “How Long” & the whole club began singing along.  The excitement was escalated to a more aggressive level when Tiesto dropped a mashup of “Maximal Crazy” and “Sending My Love” by R3hab, Swanky Tunes & Max C.  This energy continued as he played a remix of Empire of the Sun’s “Walking On A Dream”, an extended version of “Escape Me” featuring C.C. Sheffield, his track with Diplo “C’Mon”, his remix “Made Of”, and his remix of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain”.  My favorite tracks of the evening were his remix of Kaskade’s “Move For Me”, his remix of “Girls With Bangs” featuring Lune, and his original mix “Feel It in My Bones” featuring Tegan and Sara.  Tiesto completely dominated Pacha NYC, keeping the crowd alive and grooving with his progressive chance genius until the wee hours of the morning (he was still spinning when I finally gave in to exhaustion and left the club at 3:30 AM) showing to all what the CLVB LIFE really is.  Hats off to you, Tiesto & Pacha NYC, for hosting another magical evening of nonstop NYC trance family fun.  I am truly grateful to have shared such an intimate EDM experience with you, it is a night I will always remember.  I only met Tijs briefly, but he was very friendly & it was a pleasure to see the progressive trance king up close and shake his hand.  We look forward to your return to NYC soon, Allure!
