We were very excited for Thomas Gold to hit the decks @ Pacha NYC this past Friday, October 7th. We must admit, Gold wasn’t necessarily on our radar until he teamed up with Dirty South on their latest smash ‘Alive’, but after seeing his set live, we had to give ourselves a little smack on the wrist. At most other shows we have been to, skillfully executed mash-ups were a novelty. The most refreshing and unique aspect of Gold’s show this past Friday night were the numerous, out-of-left-field, expert mix-ins of a huge variety of tracks from every genre imaginable. He kept the audience on its toes, looking around wide-eyed with curiosity about what might come next. Incorporating heavy basslines with cutting edge electro house beats and mixing in the likes of Adele, Coldplay, and even The Police, gave us a show we wont soon forget. The man who has the “Golden” touch when it comes to remixes, put together a monster that was one of the highlights of the Swedes’ headlining set at EDC Las Vegas earlier this year (‘Judas’ by Lady Gaga remix). Friday at Pacha NYC was a night full of fantastic energy, a great crowd and a world-class DJ! The videos below will give you a taste of what you missed, or help remind you if you were there, but a little too far-gone. It’s always hard to pick a single highlight of a night like this, but in our opinion it was when he dropped ‘Alive’. The build-up was beautiful and the crowd ate it up! We cant wait til the next time we get the privilege to see the enormously talented Thomas Gold.
