A couple weeks ago for the first time trance veterans, Sied Van Riel and Aly & Fila made their Philadelphia debut at the hot new venue, SoundGarden Hall. The energy that night was incredible and you could feel everyone’s excitement as soon as you walked in the door. Sied Van Riel took the stage at around 11 PM, and ripped it up for about an hour and a half. Trance fans and non trance fans were truly blown away by his set, as Sied dropped some darker and more heavy hitting trance as well as euphoric vocal trance that had some in the room in tears including me. Towards the end Sied went into vocal overdrive and dropped “At the End of the Day” by Snat & Vix featuring the lovely vocals of Neev Kennedy. Finally Sied closed out with a truly heart wrenching track, “Ready to Fall” by 4 Strings featuring the spine chilling vocals of Seri, leaving everyone wanting more.
Next up one of the kings of 140 took the stage immediately after Sied was done, Fadi from Aly & Fila. Fadi’s set was nothing short of perfect, and he had the entire venue singing along with the tracks dropping tracks like “Perfect Love”, a remix of “We Control the Sunlight”, “Fireisland”, and many others, including their new track “Running Out of Time”. Fadi’s energy on stage electrified the crowd and had everyone dancing and moving almost uncontrollably. Fadi dropped both hard pounding 140 as well as some uplifting stuff, but the crowd was more than impressed by his set. Fadi spun until the lights in the club came on and then made his way out into the crowd to get some face-time with the fans. Fadi left most people speechless, and truly showed the beauty and power of 140 trance, both uplifting and more hard hitting as he transported the crowd to another planet.
It was a night to truly remember as both Fadi and Sied definitely made trance history in Philly absolutely demolishing both of their sets, and leaving the crowd wanting more and more. Hopefully Philly will get to see Fadi and Sied again soon, and we look forward to their return!
