StopBreatheBump is extremely grateful & fortunate that we were able to experience & document the King of Trance Markus Schulz and the Global DJ Broadcast World Tour @ Pacha NYC friday night thanks to Made Event
It was by far the best show we have seen @ Pacha and perhaps the best overall performance we’ve witnessed, period. Markus’ energy & progression in his music is so motivating and powerful that it leaves you with no choice but to smile and dance your face off. We had very high expectations here at StopBreatheBump and somehow they were met and then exceeded. One thing is for sure, Markus Schulz knows better than anyone the meaning behind Stop, Breathe & BUMP.
The epic night was opened perfectly with a tag team set by two of NYCs best local talents, Zach Roth and Jason Jollins. Their techy and progressive sounds never fail to warm up the room and served as a perfect precursor to the 5 hr mind numbing journey down the rabbit hole that Markus gave to everyone in attendance. When he took to the decks Markus picked up right where Zack and Jason had left off, continuing to build the vibe with some really great deep progressive material. As he built up the tempo the energy in the building came alive and the crowd was treated to a wide variety of material from Markus that included Dakota tracks new and old, Do You Dream? productions, Coldharbour classics and obviously a large dose of the always massive Big Room Reconstructions. His ability to really dominate a room without ever playing higher than 134bpm is truly astounding and is a real testimant to his fantastic DJ skills and pure understanding of what crowds really want. He is always well ahead of his time and we here at StopBreatheBump 100% believe that Markus represents the future of trance and progressive. One of our absolute favorite moments of the night was when he played ‘Nalin & Kane – Open Your Eyes (Markus Schulz & Elevation Dub Mix) at the end of the night. This legendary tune has been blowing minds since 2005 and it was unforgettable for all the loyal fans in attendance to get to hear this tune brought out of the archives.
Everyone here at StopBreatheBump are still in a state of shock at Markus’ performance on Friday, it was a night that will go with all of us to our graves. We absolutely cannot wait to hear the GDJB World Tour recording of this set when it is released on his radio show in early July!! Again we would like to thank Pacha NYC and Made Event for their fantastic hospitality and above all we would like to thank Markus for giving us all the chance to share such an epic night. He is a man that is surely destined for even greater things than he has already achieved in his prolific career and can’t wait to see him do it all over again at EDC Vegas next weekend.
