Adam Beyer’s Drumcode has definitely started off 2013 in the right fashion, following up an updated version of Human Reason by Len Faki with their latest offering, System X, provided by Techno mastermind Gregor Tresher. Tresher has been leading the way in cutting edge Techno since he first started in Frankfurt, Germany, in the mid 90’s. Now his sound can be heard all over the world at the most prestigious clubs and festivals, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
On Drumcode radio Adam Beyer is quoted as saying “Gregor has been digging out some old studio hardware lately, and has done some production with it; it’s all about the analog synths.” This is clearly the case on Tresher’s E.P, which has an old school vibe laced with updated sounds.
The first track on the E.P, Relevance, sets the tone perfectly. Relevance has a blossoming synth line which compliments a slick, pumping groove which will certainly be setting dance floors ablaze. The title track System X, which uses a bass line that could power an entire city, has perfectly programmed effects and synths straight from a science fiction movie. Secura is a straight up grooving track that uses forward thinking sounds over an infectious rhythm. Finally, A Call to Arms precisely uses hypnotic percussion and melody to formulate a dance floor destroyer, perfect for any DJ’s arsenal.
If you are in the Philadelphia area on Friday February 15, 2013, you can catch Tresher at Rumor, located at 1500 Samson St., Philadelphia, Pa.
