Our trance fantasies have been fully realized. Dash Berlin came out Thursday night firing on all cylinders @ Pacha NYC. He literally snuck into the DJ booth & stayed crouched under the decks for the element of surprise. After a recorded intro, the beat dropped for ‘Disarm Yourself’, Jeffrey Sutorious stood up, and the crowd went absolutely bonkers. Check out our video and get a taste of what we witnessed…
For those of you who don’t know, Dash Berlin is a progressive-trance ‘project’ that started in 2007 in The Hague, Netherlands by Eelke Kalberg & Sebastiaan Molijn, with front-man DJ Jeffrey Sutorius. For over 10 years, Kalberg & Sebastiaan have been collaborating with some major names, including Sander Kleinenberg, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, BT & even Usher. With this diverse music repertoire, they have developed a truly stunning sound that we witnessed first-hand on Thursday night. Sutorious’ energy combined with his interactive iPad messages worked the crowd into a frenzy. We had never been to a show at Pacha on a Thursday before, and it was a unique and satisfying experience. Everyone in attendance was there to see Dash Berlin and listen to the beauty that is the music this group has created. We heard all the vocal trance that had drawn us to this group from the get-go, and other darker progressive chunes that both shocked and amazed us. ‘Disarm Yourself’, ‘Waiting’, ‘Better Half of Me’, ‘Reverie’ and even ‘Janeiro’ were played, and hearing almost all of these for the first time live, we had to pinch ourselves to make sure we were still on this earth. The highlight of the evening was when he mixed Above & Beyond’s ‘Sun and Moon’ with ‘Disarm Yourself’…literally a life-changing moment. You know it’s a good show when we look at each other speechless, smiling, knowing that we’re in the midst of something very special. This was truly one of the best shows we’ve covered at Pacha. We’ve been huge Dash Berlin fans since the beginning and finally getting the opportunity to witness this beautiful music in person was a dream come true. We were extremely impressed with the crowd, the energy & of course the music. It was a case of true trance fans coming together and enjoying the moment. Hands down, it was the best vocal trance we’ve witnessed live. Dash doesn’t like photographers in the booth, but luckily we were able to work some magic and convince one of his crew to snap a shot for us! Lastly, big thanks to Pacha NYC for bringing the world’s most talented DJs to this wonderful city of ours. Cheers
