Kaskade @ Marquee Las Vegas Review. 12/31/11

Marquee Nightclub/Dayclub, nestled inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, is the pinnacle of nightlife. It has been ranked #1 by clubplanet.com and has received global recognition by Djmag.com. Marquee offers multiple rooms to suit anyone’s desires (that’s what Vegas is all about, right?). The bottom level is called the Boombox where you’ll hear primarily hip hop. The upper level holds the Library, which, as one would guess, was designed after a library and has comfortable seating and pool tables that provide the club-goer with a place to chill. The main room is where the major DJs perform and has a 40-foot LED wall and state-of-the-art light show that create a very memorable experience. In front of the DJ booth is a spacious dance floor surrounded by numerous VIP tables. The sound system is kept at a perfect level so that you can get loose on the dance floor, yet still engage in conversation. In the back of all this is the Dayclub. This area offers two large pools with private bungalows and individual hot tubs. Marquee’s design is elegant and modern with the highest attention to detail from floor to ceiling.

This year, I spent NYE with Kaskade who had announced that he would perform his longest-ever set…a solid 12 hours. He called it ’12 to 12 for 2012′. He came on at 11:59, just in time to do the final countdown, and kicked off with ‘Turn It Down’ from his new Fire and Ice album. I stayed in the Daybar and was able to hear the music as well as see the spectacular fireworks displays that Las Vegas hotels put on for New Years. All throughout the night Kaskade kept the crowd up on their feet and dancing their asses off. He played many of his classic songs along with most of his new album. Some other memorable tracks were ‘Raise Your Head’ by Alesso, Deniz Koyu’s ‘Tung!’ and ‘Who Is Ready To Jump’ by Chuckie. I only made it til 8 AM but heard he continued to rock it hard til noon. Kaskade has definitely set the bar for future NYE celebrations at Marquee!

Two nights later for Marquee’s One Year Anniversary party, they featured Avicii. Every night at Marquee is an epic night, but this one had a special vibe in the air as the anticipation for Avicii, who had an absolutely huge year in 2011, grew to maximum craziness. He dropped many of his well known songs and the place erupted when he dropped ‘Levels’. The place was PACKED and the dance floor was almost impossible to reach for most of the night, but I still had an unforgettable time. This weekend at Marquee was one for the record books, and not unlike every other weekend at this club, a full-on good time. They host a barrage of the best producers and DJs in the world and I strongly suggest to anyone who visits Las Vegas to make a stop at Marquee and see what clublife is really all about.
