Calvin Harris Review, Ocean Club, Boston. July 3rd, 2011

The name is out; if you didn’t know about Calvin Harris you do now.

It truly was another night of greatness. Just when Ocean Club seemed to be on the very top of their game, they out did themselves once again. I wasn’t sure how the Boston crowd was going to react to Calvin’s unique style of playing, but it was evident from the moment he stepped on stage that it was going to be an evening filled with fun & magic from the speakers.  Both Calvin and the fans were in for a treat, as the crowd last night was even more amped then last week. Calvin was on the decks as early as 10:30 which meant we all got to experience a 3 hour plus set. The longest set I have personally seen in Beantown was less than two hours so last nights extended tunes were greatly appreciated !

The opening acts at the great Ocean Club usually heat up the decks to such a point that the tables are already boiling by the time the headliner hits. So when the main act is ready to drop their stuff it’s a sure thang the oven is all ready burning up.

It seemed like the moment Calvin stepped on stage the rain ceased and Great Gods of House granted Calvin a night of smooth rockin jams. Everyone’s hands were in the air by the end of the night. Calvin was loving it and gave me a big smile and hand shake as he walked off the stage. I think it is safe to say that he was really feeling the crowd.

At one point he joyfully said to the crowd of people…

I want all of you to put your hands up and jump as high as you can !!

He dropped the famous ‘You Used To Hold Me’ and the place went bananas! He also caught us all off guard with a remix of ceelo’s ‘Fuck You.’ He is a very creative and exciting DJ which is another reason Mr Harris is among the top DJ’s in the world!

Here is a shot we got from the DJ booth. Thank you Ocean Club for providing VIP access & for bringing such talented DJ’s to our great city of Boston. We appreciate it very much and can’t wait to work together in the future.

I leave you with one last thought as we reflect on another successful Sunday at Marina Bay’s Ocean Club. Bring on Avicii! Make sure to book your tickets in advance because this Swede does not come just to play but comes to devastate every dance floor he performs on! Until then, CIAO.

Nice write up Slambo. What’s the song he’s playing in the video? I’ve heard it a bunch of times but I can’t put my finger on it. See you at Avicii homes.
