Last weekend IDENTITY unleashed it’s fury on Mansfield Massachusetts with its barrage of top shelf DJs from all around the world. The hours leading to the festival, party fueled fans flooded the Comcast Center parking lots with some intense tailgating. The StopBreatheBump crew was there in the middle it all, reppin’ in full-force. We had an unbelievable time and want to personally thank everyone running IDENTITY and SKULLCANDY for hosting such an amazing event.
August 20 was definitely a day to remember or should we say, a day to forget? Either way it was a day full of great acts stacked up one after the other. I wasn’t sure what type of crowd to expect for a show such as this. There were some great DJs but at a very interesting type of venue for an electronic music concert. Overall I thought the layout of the three stages were pretty well set up.

I had never been to an EDM show with arena stage seating. It actually made it much easier to see what the DJs were doing on stage. When we first arrived, we were drawn to a white tent with two beautiful woman Australian DJs named Nervo throwing down. They really got the party going from the start with their uplifting house tunes.

Soon after Nervo completed there set it was time to venture over to the main stage to watch Chuckie throw down. A lot of people that came to IDENTITY were really there to see Avicii and Kaskade, which is fair because they were the two headliners. However, I think Chuckie surprised everyone with his energy and Dutch House style throwing down banger after banger! He involved the crowd a ton asking us if we were ready for some new shit! He definitely kept the BPM had at Afrojack type level!

Avicii also pleasantly surprised me and played some different tracks that haven’t been in his set list as of late. And of course he was wearing a long sleeve plaid shirt as he usually does. I’m still not particularly a fan of his stage presence, but damn…is he talented.
I’ve never seen a crowd so excited to hear “Levels” before. The Mass EDM scene was absolutely crazy this day! “Enough Is Enough” and his remix to Armin van Buuren’s “Drowning” both hit the spot perfectly. He also played a Flashback remix with the perfect amount of Swedish house in it!
Avicii
Steve Lawler also killed his set. I have to say that the best part of his set was he how he was throwing down in front of a relatively small crowd because the Dub Steppers and Aioki fans were preoccupied with live performances on different stages. The techy sounds of Lawler and subtle drop sounds were extremely deep and satisfying. (thats what she….) The best part about this music is that as long as you have at least one fan you are good to go.
Aoki was a madman for his set. He was hands down the best performer of that night. He was so fun to watch that I almost forgot to even pay attention to the music that was bumpin’ in the background. The video below shows him poppin’ a bottle of champaign into the crowd and then taking a generous swig for himself afterwards. EPIC!

Kaskade was by far my favorite DJ that played at IDENTITY. His set was absolutely KILLER. He was launching hit after hit and was totally engaged with the crowd. There was even a point where he got down from his massive DJ both to crowd surf. I specifically lost it when he played “4am” and “Angel On My Shoulder”. Unreal.

Overall, it was an amazing night and by far one of the best events SBB has covered. We can’t wait for IDENTITY to come back next year! We are already having withdrawals…
