When we think of our neighbors to the north, we certainly do not think about beats that turn dance floors into a hot, sexy mess. Well start thinking in that manner now because Canadian group Azari & III are producing Nu Disco that will make your speakers hump. Their unique sound is a combination of early house music that would turn Paradise Garage inside out, along with fat, chunky 80′s synths. The band released their self-titled Album on Dim Mak Records on October 30, 2012, sending its love vibrations packaged in some very dirty synth riffs. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any hotter, think again, because the band has turned their album over to some of the brightest stars in techno to remix it for your listening and dance pleasures.
One of the first tracks, “Into The Night”, is filled with playful lyrics while synthesizers paint a colorful dreamscape to push this fantasy world well into the sunrise. Chicago based producer, Prince Language, makes this fantasy into a reality, by setting the vocals over ripened, tropical percussion. Soaring organ keys and strings aimed at the sunshine drive another amazing track, “Reckless (With Your Love)”. Tiga takes no time to turn the energy up on this track by using bouncing electro bass lines to reek havoc on your eardrums.
“Hungry For The Power”, is one of the more intense vocals on the album and is accompanied nicely by that classic Roland 303 sound. Legendary Israeli sound architect, Guy Gerber, shows us his hunger by redesigning the track with rolling Indian percussions and futuristic sound effects that will connect the dance floor to the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. The original closing track from the album, “Manic”, is certainly outfitted with bass lines that would send any living creature into a state psychosis on the dance floor. In the hands of legend Maceo Plex however, that psychosis turns to a deep, sexual vibe built for both the club and the bedroom.
The remix album also features top artists Jamie Jones, Riva Starr, Art Department, Nicolas Jaar, Konrad Black, and other techno all-stars that make the February 25th release date feel like a million miles away. Please be on the look out for this remix album, but be aware listening may cause the side effects of sweating, hot flashes, and the uncontrollable urge to begin dancing where ever you may be listening.
